Successful Business Networking with MIBA

Business networking is not new. It’s a tested and tried method to generate new business and venture. A method of exploring possibilities of business with other like-minded people for the gain of the business. The advent of internet in 80’s have given networking a whole new twist via website’s like LinkenIn which boast 50 million members and BNI who’s network span the whole globe.

Networking is essential for many reasons. Sourcing of new potential customers & clients, form of marketing and advertising, meeting of like-minded people in the same industry to share ideas, form joint ventures, sharing of experience. A place where you can build relationship for your business and create opportunity to get that big break you have been waiting for. Business networking underlines the most important part of being human – the need to connect.

Key points one should keep in mind while networking, listen to the person your talking to, gaining valuable knowledge and insight in to their business and assess the individual. Avoid joining the group you a familiar with; instead make the effort get to know new people. Introduce the contact that you just meet to another person. Going to meets solely for getting referrals will lead to failure always be the first one to give referrals. You will soon find your self successfully networking and gaining new contacts for your business. Lastly the cardinal rule for any successful networking, follow up with your new contact.

Malaysian Indian Business Association (MIBA) organizes and conducts monthly Business Networking Meets – (BNM). These meets aim to bring business together exploring possibilities, ideas and sharing of experience. But with mere mention of business networking most people picture a dull setting where people talk only about business. MIBA’s BNM is organized to cater for wide range of participants. Every month we feature speakers and programs to enrich participants. It is a place for the budding entrepreneur to meet the seasoned businessman and rub shoulders in a comfortable relaxed ambient.

This event is open to all budding entrepreneurs, start-ups, business and anyone who is genuinely interested.

Most people attending business-networking meetings expect immediate results. Nothing could be further from the truth. Like everything in life persistency and consistency is the key to making a successful business connection.

Successful Networking is not how many people you talk to or filling up your pockets with name cards. It’s about making a connection to the person your talking to and following up with the new contact.
